Cauterets – hiking and summer activities
In summer,
Cauterets becomes a wonderland surrounded by the marvels of Mother Nature. You and your family can explore nature’s bounty while hiking through the Pyrenees National
Park with its mountain streams, lakes and waterfalls....
More intrepid explorers can enjoy the thrill of climbing with magnificent panoramas as their reward, or the crystal-clear, fast-flowing waters of canyoning. In the evening, back in the village of
Cauterets with its strong heritage character and quality architecture, you can take advantage of the Health Spa in the luxurious Etablissements de César.
New : Espaces Cauterets and the FFC (French Cycling Federation) have teamed up to offer mountain bikers a more extensive area for their activities.
Once the snow has melted, the
Cirque du Lys, an alpine skiing resort in winter, is transformed into a mountain bike circuit open to all (with green, blue, red, black and bike park
trails for all levels). Let the new cable car transport you from
Cauterets (930 m) to the Cirque du Lys (1,850 m). The Grand Barbat chair lift allows braver souls to travel back up
to the Crêtes du Lys (2,305 m), after a memorable 1,500 m descent.
From Cauterets, 110 km of mountain and forest trails through undergrowth, meadows and pastoral land, and alongside mountain streams, have been signposted by the FFC to offer everybody an
unforgettable trekking experience.
Cauterets, in the heart of the Pyrenees, will thrill cycling enthusiasts, who will have the opportunity to ride through mountain passes made famous by the Tour de France, pedalling in the tracks of
champions.
